How I develop my Gatsby sites
Best performance
Four years ago I started using Gatsby as it provided the best performance that a framework can provide, and I still use it for that exact same reason. Thanks to my experience, I can build more performant Gatsby sites than any other freelancer can.
Scaling like no other
I have worked on Gatsby sites that have over 3000+ pages. I know how to scale a Gatsby site, and I use that expertise on every Gatsby site that I build.
Technical SEO
I'm both a technical SEO consultant and a Gatsby freelancer. That's a powerful combo. I can provide you Gatsby development with top-notch technical SEO.

Learn more about me and my Gatsby development
About me
Hey, my name is Jere! I am 26 years old and I live in a small and quiet city in Finland. I provide development worldwide, so your location doesn't matter.
When I am not working, I am probably either bowling, cycling, cooking, skiing, gardening, or doing hobby projects.
I also do photography from time to time. I especially like to do astrophotography, I have taken some quite nice pictures of of the galaxies, star formations, and gasses in the nightsky.
My rates
I charge 55€/h for Gatsby development, but I usually prefer fixed prices on new projects. Contact me for a quote!
What CMSs I have experience with and can connect to Gatsby
I have used the following headless CMS services or platforms:
- Contentful
- Storyblok
- Dato CMS
- Prismic
- Agility
- Strapi
- Directus
- WordPress
- Shopify (for headless eCommerce)
With Gatsby I would go with Storyblok, or if you want to self-host the CMS, then Directus.
Fullstack Gatsby development
Gatsby is mainly a front-end framework, but it has backend capabilities too. I happen to be quite good at those! Thanks to Gatsby's Node.js core, it can be used as a fullstack framework. I have plenty of fullstack experience with Gatsby, for example using Node.js streams and custom file generations.
Which CMS do I recommend to use
Unless you have some very special needs with your website, I recommend you checking out Storyblok. It is extremely powerful and easy CMS for managing a website without developer's continous help. Your content writing and marketing team can edit the site freely on their own, and see the changes on real-time.
How I got started with Gatsby
Before using Gatsby, I used to do static sites just by writing HTML + CSS + JS files. After finding Gatsby when it just released its v2 version, I instantly fell in love with it, as it allowed me to use modular approach to static sites, and React makes writing interaction-heavy sites much more enjoyable.
Before Gatsby, I wasn't too interested in React as I built my sites with focus on SEO and loading speeds, and React's JavaScript nature was hurting both of those. With Gatsby, I was able to use React to its full potential with focus on static generation.
What's my preferred way of communication
Initial messages are best via email (jere@vaihe.com) or the form below. Usually after that I like using Slack with my clients. I like keeping my meetings and video calls to a minimum as I prefer written communication.
It's 2023, do I still recommend Gatsby?
Nowadays I use more Next.js than Gatsby on new projects, but most of my existing projects are still on Gatsby. I recommend either one of them, but the further development of Gatsby seems to be slowing down after Netlify bought it.
Using Gatsby on a new project is still not a bad idea though, it's still very powerful tool and happens to get slightly better client-side performance than Next.js.
I also provide Next.js freelancer services, so I'm a safe choice with either!
